Wine Wednesdays

Happy Wednesday!  With the recent weather in NYC, seems like we’re skipping fall and heading straight into winter, it’s freezing!  Thank goodness I’ll be in California in 2 weeks to thaw out and relish in hopefully mild fall temps before really jumping into the cold (but maybe I shouldn’t jinx it)!
One upside to the blustery weather is buckling down with a yummy bottle of red wine and a hearty meal, both of which I enjoyed recently at Bobo here in NYC.  We chose a 2010 Clos Du Val Cab which paired perfectly with my “duck two ways”.
Clos du Val is one of my favorite places to taste when in Napa.  But I have to admit, I’ve generally been more concerned with my companions (catch up and gossip with my dear friend Nicole) vs. actually paying attention to the wines we’re tasting.  After taking the first sip at dinner I was shocked, the wine was delicious.  Big, bold, fruit forward, with a rich, full mouthfeel, not overly tannic.  Basically my favorite combination and what I enjoy most in a Napa Cab.

I recently read this article on the value of California Cabs under $40.  While this Clos du Val didn’t make the list, at $38 retail I would highly suggest adding it!

Nicole and I this summer at Clos du Val
I had such a great experience at Bobo, I’m heading back with a visiting friend this weekend!  This wine would make a wonderful addition to any holiday table, I know I’ll be making a stop by the winery with a much more appreciative eye next time I’m home!

Wine: 2010 Clos du Val Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Purchased:  Bobo NYC
Price:  $38.00 retail
Would buy again: Yes!

We went to Clos Du Val last month on our honeymoon! The cabs were really wonderful and they sell a good variety of them at our local wine shop too. Glad you enjoyed!
