Wine Wednesdays

How is it Wednesday already??  Time is flying!  3 weeks until Thanksgiving, what wine are we going to serve??
In the meantime, I came across an interesting article celebrating the pleasure of drinking wine.  My goal with “Wine Wednesdays” is to attempt to demystify wine, build a taste profile, and explore what I like/don’t like about wines, and in turn hopefully make wine a little more approachable for others.  When I tell people I’m from Napa, they automatically assume that I am a wine “expert”.  And while I may know more than the average person, more than that I have an interest in wine and I want to learn.  I enjoy wine, and I want to be able to describe why I like or don’t like something.
So often we get caught up in the descriptors of wine; tar, molasses, black pepper etc.  What’s the taste/smell, what am I doing wrong if I don’t sense those flavors when I taste it??

What I loved about this article was the challenge to do “less tasting, more drinking”.  Like a good song, a good wine can take you back to a certain moment in time; you’re probably more likely to remember the night or circumstance in which you drank that wine vs. whether it tasted like blackberries or sour cherries.

If we take the intimidating “tasting” factors out of wine, maybe we can all enjoy it a little bit more!
