Wine Wednesdays – 2014 Paltrinieri “Radice” Lambrusco di Sorbara

I hope everyone had a lovely MDW!  To kick off the summer, my man and I enjoyed dinner at the bar of Cafe Altro Paradiso, a spot that’s been on my list for a while now, and I’m bummed we haven’t made it sooner, it was delicious!  I just love summer weekends; when the city clears out and any restaurant or bar seat is your “oyster” with no wait and relaxed service!
We started the evening with glasses of this fizzy Lambrusco from Cantina Paltrinieri, a 3rd generation winery located just north of Modena, Italy.  I was shocked at the first pour as the wine was rose in color vs. more traditional, dark purple Lambrusco.
The nose had a hint of green strawberries, almost a pickled brightness vs. red and ripe.  The palate was high acid, fresh, light bubbles, crisp and dry.  More red fruits and grapefruit on the finish.  It was a lovely aperitif and even better with the most amazing beef carpaccio I’ve ever had!
For our main, we enjoyed the roast chicken with chanterelles and pickled ramps.  Chicken is typically the last thing I would order in a restaurant but it was so good!

Cafe Altro Paradiso just launched an all day cafe menu as well as a burger that sounds out of this world, it’s available during lunch service as well as in limited quantities at the bar during dinner.  This seems to be the thing to get as they were almost sold out by 7pm!  I will for sure be going back to check that out!
