Wine Wednesdays – 2015 Rochioli Estate Sauvignon Blanc

You may have gathered from my lack of posts, but Sauvignon Blanc is not my favorite varietal.  I often find it too acidic and harsh.  This 2015 Estate Sauvignon Blanc from Rochioli was a pleasant surprise.  While still full of citrus, it was softer than typical SB, with a pleasant, round finish.  Somewhat surprising since it was still so young and only bottled in January!
Also much to my surprise and delight, the famous mozzarella from Tra Vigne restaurant has found a new home at Brasswood in St.Helena!  The wine was a great, crisp, compliment to the rich, ooey gooey cheese!
We had a great meal overall at Brasswood.  The chef and much of the staff from the recently shuttered Tra Vigne have migrated over as have many of the famous dishes.  It is a much more cohesive and easily approachable menu vs. the previous iteration of The Farmer and the Fox.  Their corkage policy also allows for 1 complimentary bottle which is always a plus!
