I recently attended a wine dinner at New York Vintners, the theme was “Cult Wines of California”. We drank some amazing wines from a range of producers, some of whom I knew and others that I experienced for the first time. The wines were paired with 3 delicious courses from Chef Ryan, including the most amazing burrata I’ve ever had, and I’m pretty sure I had burrata 4 times that week.
We got to taste some pretty fabulous wines including a 1994 Spottswoode Cab. My favorite of the night was the Paul Hobbs 2011 Beckstoffer-Las Piedras Vineyard Cab, it had a nose of cherries and lighter red fruit vs. a typical cab, the palette was full of bright acidity with little to no tannins.
Burrata with dehydrated figs, honeycomb, and black truffle….OMG |
The largest ribeye I ever did see |
As I’ve mentioned before, New York Vintners has some of the best wine education in the city along with fun and interesting events. I’d highly recommend bookmarking their calendar of events or joining their email list to stay in the know.
