Wine Wednesdays – White Burgundy at Cochon New Orleans

Bonjour, buenos dias, hello!  I’m back.  What a whirlwind of a month, can’t quite believe it’s over.  I have so many adventures to share with you.
But first, earlier this month we enjoyed a lovely bottle of white Burgundy at Cochon restaurant to kick off our girls’ weekend in New Orleans.  The 2013 Montagny 1er Cru by Jean-Marc Boillot was everything I love in a white wine.  100% Chardonnay from the village of Montagny in the Cote Chalonnaise in Burgundy.  It was full of ripe fruit, creamy and round, nice minerality with just a hint of oak on the finish.  It paired perfectly with our fried alligator!  No really…..the bright juicy wine really stood up to the fried batter and chili-garlic mayo!
Everything about our meal was fantastic….I’ve never seen 5 girls get so intensely down with 5 different pork-dominated dishes.  We finished every last bite.  There was some debate over the absolute “best” dish, with votes split between the namesake cochon, and the smoked ham hock.  If you find yourself in New Orleans, please make it to Cochon, it lived up to every bit of the hype!
