I recently celebrated another birthday; how a year has passed is beyond me!  This year was particularly special, with a perfect weekend spent doing all the things I love (eating and drinking) as well as a trip out to the Northfork/Shelter Island.  Full trip recap to come!

On the eve of my birthday we had a delicious dinner at Vine Street Cafe accompanied by a 1986 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon.  I’d never had a birth-year wine before so this was an extra special treat!  Cabernet Sauvignon is hands down my favorite red wine and this really blew me away.  Twenty-nine years later and yet the perfect example of balance, bursting with a bouquet of ripe raspberries, it was so good.  The perfect accompaniment to our classic steak frite.  

Headed home in the light of a full moon, not a bad way to usher in another year!
