This week for Wine Wednesday I’m sharing photos from a tasting I held at Abbottega restaurant this past Sunday. I gathered some of my best girls to join me for an afternoon as I walked them through two of the most common varietals found worldwide, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
As you may have guessed, I have quite the affinity for Chardonnay, but I know there are plenty of people out there who believe in the ABCs (Anything But Chardonnay). My mission is to expose those people to the wide world of Chardonnay, and to show them that it can be so much more than the oak-bomb connotation they have in their head.
After the first sip of the first wine my friend Laurie proclaimed, “I don’t like Chardonnay and I love this wine.” Mission accomplished.
The lineup for the afternoon:
Vrac 2013 Macon-Village Chardonnay
Montgras 2013 “Quatro” Cabernet Sauvignon
All wines were big hits with the group!
Delicious bruschetta were the perfect nibbles in-between wines |
Chardonnay gets me so excited and animated! |
Wine+good friends = my happy place! |
My wonderful mother sent flowers in her absence, such a treat! |
A big thank you to Abbottega for allowing us to spend a cold winter afternoon in their cozy restaurant. If you find yourself in the West Village looking for a glass of wine or an authentic Italian meal, I would highly recommend stopping by Abbottega; they are open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday!
